Statements, Questions & Answers (from e-mails)
Alkali Lake Clean-up
Greg from Summer Lake, Oregon e-mails me saying my statement of '1/2 quart per 200,000 deaths' may not be "accurate".
He says that,"On the basis of World Health Organization (WHO) standards, calculates that 20 grams is equivalent to the acceptable yearly dose for about 200 million people."
20 Grams  is not even 3/4 of an ounce [ 0.7054673721340388 Ounces ]. This TCDD is a PBT or a Persistent Bioaccumulating Toxin. It accumulates in your body and cattle and any thing that ingests or breaths it. The farther down the food chain the more you get.

The particular toxin that is referred to is 2,3,7,8-Tetrachlorodibenzo-para-dioxin which is in the residue from the
production of Agent Orange [ a mix of 2,4,D and 2,4,5,T] 2,3,7,8-Tetrachlorodibenzo-para-dioxin often called TCDD is the chief by product of Agent Orange. Any amount can cause death if it comes in contact with genetic material on a cellular level. TCDD is recognized as the most cancer-causing agent ever tested. Workers exposed to TCDD have suffered increased rates of lung cancer and all cancers combined. The US EPA now estimates that as many as 3 percent of all cancer deaths are due to mere "background" or low-level exposure to dioxins. This figure is probably far to low and is constantly changing."

Greg you present a good arugument.I hope I'm right on this one. Dalton

Q.---- Alison, age 12, Fort Rock, Oregon asks,"who gave permission for them to use this as a dump site ?"

A.---- I have trouble with understaning the meaning of the word 'permission''. If someone said to you that it was okay to jump off a bridge, and you did. Who's responible for that act. I know when I got home, there would be two beatings waiting for me and the 'being stupid' beating would be the WORST!  With your permission Alison I'll change your question. Who is RESPONSIBLE for this dump site? Department of Enviromental Quality {DEQ} and Enviromental Protection Agency{EPA}, thats who.

My question back to you Alison, How did they come up with those names?
